Western PA CSA Fair – Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture
Saturday, March 29, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
During these final weeks of winter, you can start dreaming about the warm weather to come by signing up for a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program!
Becoming a member of a CSA is an excellent way to support local agricultural efforts in our region and ensure you have a variety of seasonal produce to enjoy. Under most CSA agreements, members pay the cost of shares for the season up front. This money provides farmers with needed capital to purchase seed, compost, tools and other items to successfully grow your food. Once the shares begin, members pick up a box of fresh, seasonal produce each week during the season.
If you’ve never tried a CSA, but are considering one, you are invited to join us to learn all about the available CSAs in our region and visit with a number of farmers from all around Western PA for an afternoon dedicated to local food at the Pittsburgh Public Market at 2401 Penn Ave. in Pittsburgh’s Strip District on March 29th 2014, 11am-2pm!
Farmers from all around the region will be available with information about what they grow and raise, their growing practices, and the specific details about their CSA subscriptions. Each one is unique with different availability of products, season lengths, pick-up locations, and prices so come find one that is the perfect fit for you!
Are you a farmer with a CSA program wanting to have a booth at this years event?
Questions? Contact Alissa Matthews at 412-365-2987 or email@example.com
The CSA Fair is a project of PASA and the Buy Fresh Buy Local Program, with additional support from edible Allegheny, the Pittsburgh Public Market, and Farm to Table Pittsburgh.
