Pittsburgh Public Market is a nonprofit organization operated by paid staff and governed by an all-volunteer council. The Market relies on the generous support of sponsors and individual owners to support small business development.
How Sponsorships Support Our Mission
Pittsburgh Public Market is a nonprofit, year-round, indoor market made up of independently owned local small businesses. The mission of Pittsburgh Public Market is to preserve the historic character of the Strip District; to support entrepreneurial opportunities, especially for low-income individuals, women and minorities;to provide healthy food and nutrition education to the community and surrounding region; and to cultivate a public space that fosters social interaction and celebrates Pittsburgh’s culture and diversity.
Since its opening in 2010, Pittsburgh Public Market has helped to incubate 74 small businesses. With an annual visitorship of over 165,000, Pittsburgh Public Market has established itself as a premier attraction in Pittsburgh.
Merchants’ fees at PPM cover the basic operating costs of the Market. In order to keep these fees as low as possible and still fund educational outreach and special events, PPM solicits sponsors to support its programming goals. This includes hosting book signings, cooking demos and classes, as well as live music.
For the past three years of operation, the Market has helped contribute to the success of local food growers and producers, as well as small businesses that strengthen our local food system and economy. Organizations and businesses that sponsor Pittsburgh Public Market share a commitment to fostering an economically, ecologically and socially sustainable community.

All sponsorship candidates must be reviewed by PPM staff to ensure there is no direct conflict with PPM’s mission.
